The Communion of Evangelical Episcopal Churches is a communion in Apostolic Succession whose parishes are fully charismatic, fully evangelical, but also fully liturgical and fully sacramental. Our identity and self-understanding is rooted in the Anglican Spiritual Tradition.
We believe that the Holy Scriptures
are the inspired Word of God, and that they contain all things necessary for salvation and godly living.
We are committed to the faithful reading, studying, teaching, and preaching from the Scriptures; as well as believing
that the Holy Scriptures are a wellspring for spiritual maturity. We believe in the importance of a personal
relationship with Jesus Christ, a holy life, and a commitment to evangelism and missions.
We believe that we are to be open to
the work of the Holy Spirit. God’s people have always been a spiritually gifted people. From the Apostles
to the modern Church, Christians have been endowed with a power beyond themselves; a power from the Holy Spirit
Himself. This means we encourage our parishes to not only allow, but anticipate His presence and working
through Spiritual Gifts in both worship and daily acts of service.
As we recite the Nicene Creed, the Communion
of Evangelical Episcopal churches is unashamedly part of the one Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. This means that at the very center of our worship we are a liturgical and Sacramental people. Since the earliest
days of the Historic Church, Christian worship was liturgical, culminating in the regular celebration of the Holy
Eucharist (the Lord’s Supper). We believe that Grace is imparted by the real presence of Christ in the Holy
Eucharist.
