The Most Reverend (Dr) Russell McClanahan Archbishop McClanahan is the Archbishop/Patriarch of the Province of St. Peter and the Archdiocese of the Holy Cross. Archbishop McClanahan grew up and pastored in the United Methodist Church for 12 years. He is a graduate of Kentucky Wesleyan College (B.A.), Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary (M.Div.), and Central Christian University (D.Min.). He has been in the ministry since 1965 and has served as Family Counselor, Program Director for an alcohol and drug treatment center, Pastor, Church Planter and Missionary. In 1976, he founded network of charismatic congregations and ministries with a liturgical  base. The vision of the network was to build a relationally

based group of ministries and churches that would seek to blend the streams of the evangelical, charismatic and sacramental aspects of the church. These churches along with a single congregation in the Fredericksburg, VA area were the initial congregations and ministries that later formed the Evangelical Episcopal Church. He was, therefore, unanimously elected by the founding leadership of the Evangelical Episcopal Church to be it's first Bishop in historic Apostolic Succession. Archbishop McClanahan has traveled extensively throughout the world sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ He was consecrated as a Bishop Oct. 3, 1995, and served as the International Presiding Archbishop of the Communion of Evangelical Episcopal Churches from the first Advent of 2003 to July of 2006. He is also the President of Evangelical Episcopal Theological Seminary. Under his leadership, the Province of St. Peter has grown to over 2000 churches worldwide.
